Matomo analytics service (usage analysis)

This website uses Matomo to analyse user behaviour. Cookies are used to collect information about user behaviour on the website, including the abbreviated IP address of the accessing computer. This information is then transferred to the server where it is anonymised and stored for usage analysis purposes. With the technology currently available, the data can no longer be traced back to the accessing computer or IP address once it has been anonymised.

Information generated by the cookie is shared with internal servers only. Data will not be passed on to third parties. Data is processed based on Article 6 paragraph 1 e) of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) with the legitimate interest of analysing usage to improve the website. Users can opt out of their data being processed to analyse user behaviour. As the user, you can disable the collection of usage data under the link below:

Notes regarding opt-out: A cookie is stored on the device for this purpose, preventing user data from being collected when the user visits this website. In order for the opt-out to take effect, the cookie must be stored on every device used. As the cookie is stored in specific browsers (programs for internet access), the cookie must be stored in each browser used on each device (e.g. Internet Explorer, Chrome, Mozilla Firefox). Please also note that, if you delete all cookies, the opt-out cookie will also be deleted and will need to be stored again.

Embedded YouTube videos

Type and purpose of the processing:

We embed YouTube videos on several of our websites. The operator of the respective plug-ins is YouTube, LLC, 901 Cherry Ave., San Bruno, CA 94066, USA (hereinafter ‘YouTube’). When you visit a page with the YouTube plug-in, a connection to YouTube’s servers will be created which tells YouTube which pages you visit. When you are logged into your YouTube account, YouTube can associate your browsing behaviour with you personally. You can prevent this by logging out of your YouTube account beforehand.

If a YouTube video is started, the provider uses cookies that collect information about user behaviour.

You will find additional information on the purpose and scope of the data collection and its processing by YouTube in the provider’s privacy policy, as well as additional information on your rights and setting options for protecting your privacy (https://policies.google.com/privacy). Google processes your data in the USA and is subject to the EU-US Privacy Shield https://www.privacyshield.gov/EU-US-Framework.

Reference to user rights
You are entitled:
- to object to data processing,
- to enquire about your personal data and its processing,
- to have the data corrected if necessary, or to request that processing be restricted, or the data be erased. Your data will then be erased.
If you have any questions or complaints about this website, please direct them to the contact address of the project (provided above) or the GIZ data protection officer. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the relevant data protection supervisory authority.
