Mexico
During the week of May 6-10, a Delegation of the German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi), led by Mr. Helge Engelhard, Deputy Director General for Digital policy and Innovation, visited Mexico in the context of the German-Mexican Dialogue on Quality Infrastructure.
The purpose of the visit was to meet the new staff in charge at the Mexican Ministry of Economy (SE) and to foster the already ongoing cooperation on Quality Infrastructure. To this end, the delegation held successful high-level meetings with the General Bureau of Standardization (Dirección General de Normas – DGN) of the Ministry of Economy and with the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare (STPS).
Both Ministries not only confirmed their interest but also the desire to deepen the bilateral cooperation. In addition, new possible areas of collaboration were explored with the General Directorate of Innovation, Services and Domestic Trade of the Ministry of Economy.
A central part of the visit was also the dialogue with several Mexican and German companies in two events where topics such as the perspectives of the Mexican economy, the challenges and opportunities in collaboration with the new government, as well as the development of Industry 4.0 in Mexico in the context of QI were discussed.
Both sides agreed to hold, this year in October, the second Meeting of the bilateral Working Group of the German-Mexican Dialogue on Quality Infrastructure. The Working Group will take place in the framework of the Fair “Industrial Transformation Mexico”, in the city of Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico.
