From the German side, representatives of DVSI, testing and certification bodies as well as experts in the toy sector participated at the workshop. The Chinese delegation composed of members from CNCA and CQC. The goal of the meeting was to evaluate and discuss recent developments and the progress made on previously established cooperation projects and to determine subsequent actions.

The workshop consisted of two parts: at first, participants discussed the Comparative study on the Testing and Certification Procedures for Toy Products, a project led by DVSI representatives, aiming at revealing existing technical barriers in bilateral trade of toy products and at exploring potential areas of cooperation to overcome such obstacles and challenges. The Chinese delegation expressed strong interest in cooperating in the areas of certification and testing.

The other session focused on the project of proficiency testing for phthalates in toys that intends to help build confidence in the competency of each other’s labs and thereby facilitate the mutual recognition of test reports. Participants reviewed each other’s proposals, decided on feasible testing methods and other technical details. Specific timelines and implementation details will follow.
