Workshops on IT-Security and Functional Safety in Kassel

The Sino-German Technical Expert Groups “IT-Security” and “Functional Safety” came together in Kassel to discuss recent developments regarding security and safety standards in Germany and China. They also revised the drafts of two white papers which are dedicated to these topics.

On 23 September, the Sino-German technical expert group “IT-Security” held a workshop in Kassel to discuss recent developments regarding security standards in China and Germany. The experts reworked a draft version of a white paper on security tests for intelligent manufacturing and Industrie 4.0 that has jointly been elaborated by the Chinese and German members of the group. The paper provides an overview of currently existing or being developed international as well as domestic security test guidances and standards in the context of Industrie 4.0/Intelligent Manufacturing and defines requirements and challenges. The document will be presented at the Sino-German Standardization Commission (DCKN) in 2020. The next meeting of the TEG is planned for November during the 9th Meeting of the Sub-Working Group Industrie 4.0 in Berlin.

During another workshop on 25 September, the Chinese and German members of the Technical Expert Group “Functional Safety” reviewed the latest draft version of the “Sino-German White Paper on Safety for Industrie 4.0 and Intelligent Manufacturing”. The paper surveys and analyzes existing standards, specifications and researches in order to give a detailed overview of safety with regard to Industrie 4.0 and Intelligent Manufacturing. The experts agreed on several changes to the text, and defined next steps to finalize the document, which will be published in November 2019.
