Workshop to Analyze the Impact of the AQSIQ Export Inspection Reform on Businesses

On 19 August 2014, a roundtable discussion on the impact of AQSIQ export inspection reforms on businesses was held in Beijing. Participants of the event were representatives from the Chinese Academy of Inspection and Quarantine (CAIQ) as well as German and European organizations, manufacturers and industry associations such as the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce (AHK), the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA), the German Association for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies (VDE), the EU-China Trade Project, Phoenix Contact, and others.
The objective of the roundtable was the exchange of information about Chinese export inspection reforms and a discussion of the resulting challenges for German industry when trading with China. Insights from the discussion will be used in a joint study of GIZ and CAIQ which examines the impacts of the reform on the private sector.
After a short introduction to the study, which was jointly commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) and the Chinese General Administration for Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ), by Mr. Torge Wolters (GIZ), Dr. Xiao Haiqing (CAIQ) gave a detailed account of latest developments of Chinese export inspection reforms. In the following discussion, the industry representatives were able to ask detailed questions as well as provide their input as to which main areas the study should focus on.
