The second expert workshop on conformity assessment in the toy industry was held in Beijing on 3 December 2014 hosted by the Chinese Certification and Accreditiona Administration (CNCA) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi). The event served as a platform to continue discussions made during the first workshop, which took place in Berlin on 20 June 2014, and to decide about concrete work packages to be implemented in the year 2015.

After a round of presentations that touched on topics including the trends and prospect of the Compulsory Certification Scheme on toys in China, the effects of new substance data on conformity assessment as well as a comparison of the requirements for toy inspection and certification between China and Europe, the National Certification and Accreditation Administration of the P.R. China (CNCA) proposed three cooperative activities to be carried out throughout the year 2015, which include:

1.Comparative Study on toy testing and certification between China and Germany
2.Joint Research on risk analysis and management of toy catalogue for market access
3.Proficiency Testing on Plasticizers, and other areas at a later stage, jointly with the German side

The next steps will be to communicate with the German Toy Industry Association (DVSI) and other industry partners and identify parties to lead the abovementioned activities. In addition, CNCA has shown strong interest in adding more children related product into the project and seeking more cooperation opportunities on this topic.
