Strategic Alliance: Business Workshop at the International Toy Fair

On 31 January 2014, the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) invited to the workshop “Material Management, the easy way!” as part of the Toy Fair in Nuremberg.
Especially in the toys sector consumer protection and product safety play a prominent role. The toy manufacturer Schleich cooperates in a strategic alliance with GIZ (commissioned by BMZ), in order to improve material management and quality assurance along the global production chain.
The developed semantic system “trace4toys” shall be provided industry-wide. Thereby, on the one hand it shall transparently involve Chinese suppliers into an effective material management and on the other hand make available a solution for small and medium-sized toy producers in their everyday business.
In addition to the practical presentation of the system, possibilities of implementation for the company representatives were presented. A Handbook, which traces the development of the system and makes available the findings of the ongoing project, was also distributed at the exhibition.
