From Tuesday, 13 August to Friday, 16 August 2013, the project line on Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) for chemical substances has started with trainings and laboratory visits in Shanghai and Ningbo. The project had been agreed upon in the Sino-German Working Group on Product Safety and is jointly organized by the Certification and Accreditation Administration of the People’s Republic of China (CNCA) and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. Its objective is to enhance the Sino-German Technical Exchange on GLP-certification and to improve the management of relevant testing facilities.

In this first stage of the project, a series of GLP testing facilities such as the Shanghai Research Institute of Chemical Industry (SRICI) and Ningbo Entry-Exit Inspection & Quarantine Bureau Technical Center (Ningbo CIQ) were visited. In addition, a two day training session in Ningbo, one of the main trading ports in East China, was conducted.

Dr. Wolf Burchard Bulling, director of the GLP Federal Bureau at the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR) and one of the leading German GLP- experts, and Ms Ma Xin from Merck Millipore participated in the activities and introduced the participants to various aspects of GLP, ranging from GLP certification programmes and control systems up to international requirements for GLP-certificates.

Over 70 employees of various certification and testing institutes participated in the training, which was jointly organized by CNCA, the Ningbo CIQ and GIZ.
