China
From 12 March to 13 March 2014, the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) and the Central Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People’s Republic of China (AQSIQ) were jointly invited to an expert workshop on product labels of industrially used products in Nanjing. Almost 30 representatives from administrative organs and private sectors of both countries participated in this expert workshop.
Firstly both sides introduced the legal and regulatory frameworks for the product labels in their respective countries in the workshop. On this basis the quality requirements for the industrially used products by way of example of overvoltage protection devices were discussed on the second day of the workshop and an implementation plan for the project core topic was decided. First, expert groups of both countries will be designated, and then they will work out the solutions for the harmonization of requirements for safety labels through concrete example products.
At the end of the workshop, Mr. Mattes (Head of Unit for Product Safety, market surveillance and technical harmonization in BMWi) and Mr. Hao (Head of unit, AQSIQ) pointed out the importance of the subject for both countries and welcomed the achieved results.
