On 29 July 2015, the Chinese General Administration for Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) jointly organized an expert workshop on the topic of “Parallel Imports and Recall Systems of Vehicles”.

The event was organized under the umbrella of the Sub-Working Group (SWG) on Product Safety in the Automotive Industry and took place at the local authority for Import and Export Inspection and Quarantine in Tianjin (Tianjin CIQ). Besides representatives from AQSIQ, BMWi and Tianjin CIQ, other participants included representatives of German automobile manufacturers and vehicle importers from Tianjin. The two main discussion points were possible problems regarding parallel imports in the automotive trade as well as the planned state regulation on “enforcement measures for the recall of faulty motor vehicle products”.

The future task for both sides lies mainly in the creation of fair market conditions and the promotion of a healthy and positive development of the economy. To this end it was agreed that the platform of the SWG should be used to make further contributions to this topic and to intensify exchange and dialogue.
