First Annual Meeting of the SWG Product Safety in the Automobile Industry

On 11 May 2015, the first annual meeting of the Subworking Group on Product Safety in the Automobile Industry took place at the Chinese General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) in Beijing.

Under the chairmanship of the heads of division Hao Yilei (Machinery and Electrotechnical Products, AQSIQ) and Hatto Mattes (Product and Plant Safety, Technical Harmonisation, Market Surveillance, BMWi) technical arrangements of the project lines, which were established in September 2014, were discussed. Moreover, concrete decisions were made about the further procedure.

Both sides emphasized the great importance of the bilateral exchange that takes place in the SWG for the economic relations between China and Germany. The Chinese side welcomed the commitment German authorities and companies have shown since the foundation of the SWG in 2014.

During the annual meeting, the results of the joint delegation trip in April regarding the authorisation of technical product innovations in Europe were presented. With respect to this, a more intensive exchange will take place concerning issues that have not been finally settled so far.

Finally, proposals for topics were presented and discussed from both sides. Thereby many commonalities emerged, particularly in the area of CCC-Certification and in the desire for a closer cooperation in recalls and export controls. The GIZ was commissioned to gather proposals for topics and to arrange appointments and activities on the basis of a joint priority list.

The first annual meeting was considered as thoroughly successful. Both sides assured each other to intensify the cooperation and to deepen the project line technically and politically.
