Deviating standards, particular certification procedures or discretionary product safety controls can limit opportunities for companies to integrate into global value chains. The German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) has set up the Global Project Quality Infrastructure (GPQI) to engage in technical and political dialogues with Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, and Mexico to reduce technical barriers to trade, enhance product safety, and strengthen consumer protection.

With a population of more than 1 billion people, and dynamic GDP growth rates throughout the last years, India represents one of the most interesting target markets for German companies. Yet, despite efforts for closer regional and global integration, technical market access barriers remain.

OAV, along with GIZ – the German Agency for International Cooperation – and Germany Trade & Invest (GTAI), would like to cordially invite you to an online exchange on trends in technical market access in India. After an introductory presentation on business opportunities for German companies by Boris Alex, Director India of GTAI, GIZ will inform about current trends in technical regulation and support for companies to address challenges through the political dialogue. The presentation will address questions such as:

  • Which sectors in India are regulated through mandatory standards?
  • Where do I find information on new technical regulations and how do they work?
  • What support can I get from the German government in addressing technical market access challenges?

The speakers of GIZ are Alok Kesari, Senior Technical Advisor at GPQI, and Philip Grinsted, Advisor at GPQI. GIZ was commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) to support the implementation of GPQI.

As a participant you will have the opportunity to take part in the discussion and ask questions to our speakers directly.
