9th Meeting of the Sub-Working Group Industrie 4.0 / Intelligent Manufacturing and 4th Sino-German Standardisation Forum on Intelligent Manufacturing

The 9th Meeting of the Sino-German Sub-Working Group Industrie 4.0 / Intelligent Manufacturingwas held on 7,8 and 11 November. It brought together political representatives and leading experts from both countries and enabled in-depth exchange on technical topics, current work results and respective standardisation developments. In addition, on 11 November  the 4th Sino-German Standardisation Forum on Intelligent Manufacturing took place in the scope of the 3rd Sino-German State Secretaries and Vice Ministers Conference on Intelligent Manufacturing. During the Forum, experts from both countries exchanged on key trends in Industrie 4.0 and Intelligent Manufacturing standardisation. In total, over 80 representatives participated in the meetings, consisting of government agencies, standardisation organisations, research institutes and enterprises.  

The 9th Meeting of the Sub-Working Group Industrie 4.0 / Intelligent Manufacturing and the 4th Sino-German Standardisation Forum on Intelligent Manufacturing have been successfully held on 7, 8 and 11 November in Berlin. After signing the MoU to set-up the Sub-Working Group under the Sino-German Standardisation Cooperation Commission (SGSCC) in May 2015, the cooperation is looking back on over four years of intensive collaboration.

 

Politically the Sub-Working Group is steered by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi), the Standardisation Administration of China (SAC) and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). Technically lead by the German Standardization Council Industrie 4.0 (SCI4.0) and the Chinese Intelligent Manufacturing Standardisation General Group (IMSG), bilateral coordination and alignment in international standard development organisations (SDOs) are advancing continuously.

 

During the 9th Meeting of the Sub-Working Group, leading experts from both countries had an in-depth exchange on a wide range of topics, such as administration shell, digital twin, artificial intelligence, IT security, functional safety,  network communication and edge computing, predictive maintenance, as well as use cases and applications.

 

During the technical expert group meetings and plenary, both sides presented current work results, exchanged on standardisation developments in their respective fields, and agreed on future milestones for their cooperation. In addition, the publication “Sino-German White Paper on Safety for Industrie 4.0 and Intelligent Manufacturing” had been introduced.

 

In the afternoon of 11 November, the 4th Sino-German Standardisation Forum on Industrie 4.0 / Intelligent Manufacturing took place in the scope of the 3rd Sino-German State Secretaries and Vice Ministers Conference on Intelligent Manufacturing. During the Forum, experts from both countries exchanged on key trends in Industrie 4.0 and Intelligent Manufacturing standardisation. Topics included amongst others testbeds, 5G, how to engage SMEs, and artificial intelligence.

 

An open market place provided all participants the opportunity to familiarise themselves with key stakeholders and initiatives related to Industrie 4.0 and Intelligent Manufacturing in Germany and China. These included the Plattform Industrie 4.0 vision 2030, the big picture of Intelligent Manufacturing, the German Standardisation Roadmap Industrie 4.0, the Intelligent Manufacturing Standardisation Construction Guideline, the Labs Network Industrie 4.0, the Intelligent Manufacturing System Integrators Alliance and testbeds.

 

In total, over 80 representatives participated in the meetings, consisting of government agencies, standardisation organisations, research institutes and enterprises.

 

The next Meeting of the Sub-Working Group will take place in Bonn, Germany in June 2020 in the scope of the 9th Annual Meeting of the Sino-German Standardisation Cooperation Committee (SGSCC).
